SS/26 Collection

SS/26 Collection

The brand’s first collection was inspired by my grandmothers career as a kabuki actor in the 1960s. Kabuki is a classical Japanese dance-drama known for its stylized performances, elaborate costumes, and dramatic makeup the art form originated in the Edo Period from 1603.

I created each garment in the collection is inspired by a character she played. One of characters is Yuki-Onna a tale about a lady made of snow and the second character is Kiyohime a lady that feels so betrayed she turns into a serpent.

Over 25,000 of beads where embroidered for the new collection. The collection consists of hand pleated silk organza panels embroidered with vintage Swarovski and fresh water pearls. The Yuki Onna dress used over 8,500 beads all hand embroidered.
